I painted this on a hot afternoon in June from Broadway and 215th street, looking east. The iconic Inwood incinerator stacks have since been demolished.

About Thor Wickstrom

Thor Wickstrom

Thor Wickstrom is a fine artist, landscape and cityscape painter, working in New York and in the Berkshires. His paintings are all done outdoors on location and sometimes developed further in the studio. Born in 1960, Thor moved to New York in 1979 to study oil painting at the Art Students League with Robert Philipp, Julian Levy and Joseph Hirsch. In 1984, he studied at the Ecole Des Beaux Arts in Paris with Jean Francois Debord. To better understand traditional oil painting technique, he has copied from masterpieces at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and at the Louvre in Paris. Offering his paintings for sale online, Thor sells to collectors around the world and accepts commissions for specific pieces. He lives with his wife...
